I’m puzzled why Facebook is hiding this blog post that I published earlier. My FidoSysop page is using 2 factor authentication. This domain is also Facebook business manager verified. I know it was shared to Facebook earlier, but is invisible, even to me. Is it because I caught Google red handed hacking my server? Maybe there covering Googles butt?
I’ve put a lot of work into my Facebook page and are always careful not to share anything that could be considered hate speech or inappropriate. Being a Donald J. Trump supporter i share mostly pro-trump articles and screen-captured tweets. Plus those pesky democrat trolls saying stupid hateful stuff about our president, but gets the most likes and shares.
Managing a Facebook page is similar to running a multi-node bulletin board system back before the internet changed how we communicated. Those were really fun days, though the callers were mostly in my area code. At it’s peak Fidonet dominated early communications.
My system ran 4 dial-up nodes at 16.8 kbps which were busy most of the time. Doc’s Place BBS was a messaging system and carried the complete Fidonet backbone that consisted of around 600 conferences (message areas). Callers dial in to the bbs and downloaded a qwk message pack. Read it offline and then dialed back in and uploaded their reply packet. The messages were then extracted by the mail tosser and sent on they way.
Those were Fun times. Doc’s Place BBS was a busy independent community and i knew all my callers, and the BBS had a local messaging area for off conference topic chatter. It’s still going today with many die-hard callers connecting and getting their Fidonet Fix daily.
Guess maybe I’m getting senile – was reminiscing about the good old days and nearly forgot what I was blogging about. Watch the video above and let me know your thoughts.
Facebook is cool but even though my page is a community, it’s not the same as the BBS days. Conservative and Donald J. Trump censorship is a major concern when the host leans left! 😥
I'm an outspoken good ole southern boy. Fidonet computer bulletin board system operator, hobbyist webmaster, and MAGA blogger. Just hanging out in cyberspace keeping up with tech, 'blogging my opinion' without beating around the bush!
