George Zimmerman must be really desperate to offer the gun he used to kill Trayvon Martin at auction. Zimmerman’s lack of common sense is going to stir up more controversy, and shows disrespect for Martin’s family.
“I am honored and humbled to announce the sale of an American Firearm Icon,” he wrote in the description of the gun used to kill the unarmed, black teenager. “The firearm for sale is the firearm that was used to defend my life and end the brutal attack from Trayvon Martin on 2/26/2012.”
Update 05/12/2016: Gunbroker is saying Zimmermans auction not found. Maybe George had a change of heart and removed the auction, or gunbroker.com folded to the pressure, we’re sure they were getting. We snagged a Google cache screenshot of the listing. Maybe this gun will show up on eBay next.
Update 05/13/2016: United Gun Group picked up Zimmerman’s listing and ran with it. As of this update, the bid is over $65 Million dollars. Reminds me of a high profile eBay auction where sport bidders make a joke out of such auctions. We grabbed a screen capture just for the lulz effect.. 😆
Update 05/14/2016: UnitedGunGroup.com is saying “this auction has been deleted.” I’m thinking Zimmerman’s listing cost UGG quite a bit in bandwidth usage charges. George, theirs always eBay as a last resort. Here is a cached screenshot taken apparently moments before deletion.
Zimmerman wrote that the proceeds will be used to “fight [Black Lives Matter] violence against Law Enforcement officers” and to “ensure the demise of Angela Correy’s persecution career and Hillary Clinton’s anti-firearm rhetoric,” though he hasn’t expounded upon how.
Corey, whose name he misspelled, is the special prosecutor who was appointed by Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) to investigate the death of Trayvon Martin.
On the auction website, Zimmerman claims the case number from the trial is written on the gun in permanent marker and that “The Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C.” has expressed interest in “owning and displaying the firearm,” though he does not specify which Smithsonian.
“The firearm is fully functional as the attempts by the Department of Justice on behalf of B. Hussein Obama to render the firearm inoperable were thwarted by my phenomenal Defense Attorney,” he wrote, “I recognize the purchaser’s ownership and right to do with the firearm as they wish.”
He closed the description with si vis pacem para bellum, which means “If you want peace, prepare for war” in Latin.
